MCP Engineering Plastics Limited are Teflon™ Rod suppliers and Teflon™ Rod manufacturers.
We have an extensive range of semi-finished, extruded, and moulded Teflon™ rods. Available in virgin PTFE, modified PTFE and filled PTFE with the widest range of metric and imperial sizes, ex-stock.
- Extruded Teflon™ rods range from 4 mm (.3125″) diameter up to 160 mm (6.00″) diameter
- Moulded Teflon™ rods start from 30 mm (1.10″) diameter up to diam. 770 mm (30.25″) diameter.
Teflon™ rod are a high performance, synthetic fluoropolymer. Teflon™ is the registered trade name of the common plastic material polytetrafluoroethylene, otherwise known as PTFE.
MCP Engineering Plastics Limited have in-house machining and tooling capabilities. We provide precision grinding, custom made shapes and colours, with full quality product certification.
Key properties of Teflon™ Rod:
- High service temperature
- Superior chemical resistance
- Insulating properties
- Low permeability to gases and aggressive fluids
- Non stick
Teflon™ Rod has the lowest co-efficient of friction of any solid material. It is effective operating at extremely high and low temperatures, with excellent chemical resistance and superb electrical insulation properties.
The Teflon™ extrusion process is usually limited to the production of tubes and rods, with a length of more than 0.5 meters. The output volume is high, and the comparative cost is low. Teflon™ extruded rods have low pollution impurities and high cleanliness.
The Teflon™ moulding process produces a wide range of blanks, not limited to rods, but also press plates, tubes, gaskets or shaped blanks. The principle of the process is to pour loose Teflon™ powder into a mould. Then a hydraulic moulding press compacts and agglomerates the Teflon™ to form a billet. Finally, the PTFE rod goes through a sintering furnace at about 375 degrees. Solidification and cooling follow.
MCP Engineering Plastics Limited, based on the Hertfordshire and Essex county border, are an established and experienced Teflon™ Rod supplier and manufacturer to a range of industries throughout the UK. We have a wide range of filled materials, in all sizes, ready for despatch, ex-stock.
